I hope you will find this site interesting and informative. If you have not yet visited Gueydan, please do yourself a favor, and see how much is going on in our community regularly over each year. Keep up with the Community Calendar on this site for the dates of our Mardi Gras ball, Spring Festival, Duck Festival, Christmas in the park and many other activities.
Being primarily created by outcasts from the French-speaking part known as Acadia in Canada and a large German population, Gueydan and the surrounding area are rich with culture unique in the rest of the United States.
Being named the Duck Capital of America is no accident. Migrating ducks and geese by the millions rest for the winter in our rice fields and marshes. It is quite a site to see! We have the habitat for thousands of other bird and plant species that are not found in such numbers elsewhere. So come to Gueydan for our history, culture and natural Beauty.
