Centennial Time Capsule |
|
We Had A
Wonderful Time! |
|
We can't
give away everything or it wouldn't be fun for those opening the capsule.
But, we can tell you that the time capsule includes Dear Citizens of 2099, The 1999 Gueydan Centennial Celebration. Oh, it was a grand time! Every hour put into the preparations gave us twice that in enjoyment. The only disappointment was that we could not freeze time and make it last forever. And, now, here you are celebrating another hundred years. To all of the citizens who helped in the planning of this two hundred year celebration, the Gueydan family members who may be with you as their ancestors were with us and the citizens who live here or have returned here in order to celebrate the 2099 Gueydan Bicentennial, a plus grand fete! Included here is a photo of the time capsule burial. Because of the amount of work that went into the 1999 celebration and because of photos and other information about the centennial that the town wished to include in the time capsule, we did not actually bury the artifacts until July 17, 2000 |
| The time capsule was air sealed in a special box designed for burial next to the gazebo in Douglas Park. Shown sealing the covering that surrounds the box, are: L, Lawrence Bertrand, Steven Hebert, Mayor Manson J. Saltzman and John Guidry. The photo to the right is the time capsule monument. |
